International Civic Engagement Studies (ICES) is a peer-reviewed journal that promotes interdisciplinary research and scholarly discourse advancing the understanding of civic engagement and social education. Civic Engagement and Public Participation
Research on the roles of individuals and communities in political, social, and civic activities that influence public policy, governance, and societal change. Topics include voting behavior, activism, grassroots movements, and community organizing. - Social Education Policy and Practice
Analyses of policies, programs, and educational strategies designed to cultivate informed, responsible citizenship. This includes comparative studies of civic education systems across countries or regions. Citizenship Education and Pedagogy - Citizenship Education and Pedagogy

Research on regional science and governance within the civic education sub-program encourages active public participation in political engagement. This encompasses the study of government science, political education, and civic responsibility, as well as the role of government in functional and administrative entities. It also encompasses participatory planning, institutions, economic development, natural resource management, and rural-urban linkages.
ICES seeks scholarly work that contributes to global dialogue on civic responsibility and social education. The journal particularly encourages submissions that offer international perspectives and culturally responsive approaches to civic engagement.
