International Civic Engagement Studies (ICES) is a peer-reviewed journal that promotes interdisciplinary research and scholarly discourse advancing the understanding of civic engagement and social education, law, and economics. The journal welcomes original contributions from diverse methodological and theoretical perspectives that explore the following areas:
Education & Pedagogy: Civic Education (CED), international service-learning, and cross-cultural citizenship education policy.
Social & Behavioral Sciences: The social psychology of volunteerism, the sociology of mass movements, and the anthropology of local communities around the world.
Global Citizenship & Governance: Migration issues, international human rights, and the role of citizens in international organizations.
Technology & Digital Democracy: E-participation, internet governance, transnational digital activism, and the impact of AI on citizen engagement.
Environmental & Health Engagement: Citizen science on climate change, community engagement in global health crises (pandemics), and environmental sustainability.
ICES seeks scholarly work that contributes to the global dialogue on civic responsibility and social education, law, and economics. The journal particularly encourages submissions that offer international perspectives and culturally responsive approaches to civic engagement across disciplines.
