Abstract

This study aims to describe the role of the ALKO Cooperative in improving the economy of coffee farmers while supporting environmental conservation in Kayu Aro District, Kerinci Regency. This study used a descriptive qualitative method with data collection techniques through interviews, questionnaires, and documentation of 4 cooperative administrators and 15 coffee farmers who are members of the ALKO Cooperative. The results of the study indicate that the cooperative plays an important role in improving the economy of farmers through the development of businesses that support Empowering Community and Preserving Nature. The economic conditions of cooperative members have improved after joining the cooperative, as seen in increased income, access to education, housing facilities, and transportation. In addition, the ALKO Cooperative also plays a role in maintaining environmental sustainability through tree planting programs, waste management, and training in environmentally friendly agricultural practices.
