About the Journal
Journal of Humanities and Social Environmental Studies (JHSES)
Established in 2025 and published by Citra Nusa Digital Publisher, JHSES is a strictly digital, peer-reviewed journal dedicated to exploring the complex relationships between humans and their environments through the lenses of the humanities, social sciences, religious studies, and environmental philosophy. Its interdisciplinary scope encompasses environmental sociology, environmental anthropology, environmental history, ecological ethics and theology, value-based public policy, media studies, and philosophical inquiries into sustainability.
All submissions must be in English and may take the form of original field research, critical text analyses, conceptual essays, or theoretical reviews. Every manuscript undergoes a double-blind peer review by at least two subject-matter experts, with an average review period of six to eight weeks. JHSES publishes two issues per year (June and December) as an open-access digital journal; each article is assigned a DOI, and abstracts are provided in both English and Bahasa Indonesia to maximize international reach and accessibility.
